PIC BY JOHNNY JOO/ CATERS NEWS - (PICTURED: BEAUTIFUL MILE OF SUN FLOWERS) - These stunning snaps of sunflowers go on for miles and theres a heart-warming story behind the stunning scenery. The beautiful rows of bright flowers seem never-ending as they disappear into the horizon, but theres more to the scene than meets the eye. When little Maria McNamara tragically died of brain tumour at just seven years old, her devastated mother planted sunflower seeds as a memorial to her in Avon Lake, Ohio. Since then the area has blossomed into a beautiful field of gold sunflowers more than a mile long with more than two million sunflowers. SEE CATERS COPY.

Archive photo of a horse chestnut tree. See SWNS story SWWASP; Worried officials are spending thousands of pounds of taxpayersí cash in bid to beat a foreign wasp invader that could spell the end ñ of CONKERS. A rare Asian species of wasp has been spotted for the first time in English woodland, and if they are allowed to go unchecked they could easily ruin the British childhood game of conkers because they kill chestnut trees. Sevenoaks District Council has set aside a whopping £40,000 in a bid to totally wipe out the oriental chestnut gall wasp, which was spotted in Farningham Woods earlier this year ñ before they wipe out the areaís sweet chestnuts as well. The Kent council, working alongside the Forestry Commission, have introduced a ban on transporting any material from the 168-acre woodland in a bid to stop the spread of the wasp ñ and have already lopped off scores of infected boughs in a bid to kill them.
