US Ambassador Philip Kosnett urges Kosovars to keep up COVID‑19 precautions and says the United States is discussing vaccine sharing with Kosovo, hoping for tighter cooperation through the KOVAKS platform.

United States Ambassador to Kosovo, Philip Kosnett, spoke about the situation in the country and the region in confronting the coronavirus pandemic. Kosnett emphasized that there is still much to do both in Kosovo and in the US to defeat COVID‑19, while worldwide it is becoming increasingly difficult to find the right balance between solving this public health crisis and keeping the economy moving.
It’s not easy. I will call on citizens to take measures that are within their personal control to try to fight the virus. Wear masks, keep social distances, wash your hands.
He added that it does not have to cost a lot of money, but it is truly important for us to defeat the virus.
In an interview with KIM, he mentioned the aid the US has provided to Kosovo during this period of dealing with the coronavirus.
We have also consulted with American experts who spoke with Kosovo colleagues. People from the embassy have been in close contact with the Ministry of Health and other ministries from the beginning.
The Biden administration has stated that, as the number of vaccines available in the US increases, it will look for opportunities to share them with friends. Kosnett expressed hope that international vaccine exchanges, so far based on trade transactions, will expand through the international KOVAKS structure. He stressed that this aligns with the Biden administration’s approach of action, tighter cooperation and consultation with international partners.
